ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Friday inaugurated a state-of-the-art drinking water supply plant at the Tomo Riba Institute of Health & Medical Sciences (TRIHMS).

The water supply project, which has been upgraded to 19 lakh litre per day capacity from the previous capacity of 2 lakh litre per day, will ensure a steady and reliable water supply to the medical college and hospital.

Speaking at the event, CM Khandu said the new upgraded facility will cater to the needs of students, faculty, patients, and campus residents.

“This futuristic project is a testament to our commitment to enhancing infrastructure and services in the capital region,” he said.

Khandu lauded the officials of the PHE department and the Itanagar Smart City Mission for completing the project within two years.

The chief minister stated that another project of intelligent car parking with the help of AI is being implemented by the Itanagar Smart City Mission at TRIHMS.

He further said the state government is planning to set up a super speciality complex for TRIHMS. “The union health minister has principally accepted the proposal and soon the state health department will make a formal proposal and follow up for official approval and sanction,” Khandu said.

He informed that the government is mulling to establish a state cancer institute at Midpu near Doimukh in Papum Pare district.
