Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government has terminated the services of a Finance and Accounts Officer (FAO) for alleged involvement in the 2022 Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) exam question paper leak scandal.
An official statement on Thursday announced that Governor KT Parnaik issued the dismissal order, removing FAO Gomo Sora, who was stationed at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Yupia, effective immediately.
The decision followed disciplinary proceedings that found Sora guilty of grave misconduct related to the paper leak.
The misconduct severely undermined public trust in the integrity and transparency of the state’s recruitment process, the order stated.
“This behavior is highly unbecoming of a public servant, and such individuals cannot be permitted to remain in state government employment,” the statement added.
The paper leak scandal emerged during the assistant engineer (civil) exam conducted by APPSC in August 2022.
The issue came to light when a candidate lodged a police complaint, prompting an investigation.
Subsequently, ten individuals, including the APPSC Deputy Secretary-cum-Deputy Controller of Examination, were arrested for their alleged roles in the scam.
The case has since been handed over to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for further inquiry.
The government’s strict action underscores its commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in public recruitment processes.
