ITANAGAR: In a two-day tour of Changlang district, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) urged the armed forces to reinforce a sense of security among the local populace while actively participating in the region’s developmental processes.
Addressing public meetings at Vijoynagar, Gandhigram, and Miao on December 29, Governor Parnaik said that the security forces must remain vigilant given the current border situations, honing their tactical and operational capabilities.
He further called upon local youth to join the Indian armed forces and engage in the educational pursuits of school children.
Governor Patnaik also engaged with villagers and government officials, stressing on the importance of ensuring that all eligible beneficiaries register for and avail maximum benefits from state and Centre’s welfare schemes, programmes, and projects.
Acknowledging the positive impact of recent development programmes, projects, and schemes, the Governor urged Gaon Burahs (village heads) and Panchayat members to take responsibility for the proper implementation of developmental initiatives in their respective areas.
Flagging off a self-help groups van at Miao, Governor Parnaik advised government officials to reach every household in their area of responsibility.
Administering the “Viksit Bharat Sankalp” pledge to the people in Vijoynagar, Gandhigram, and Miao, the Governor expressed concern about drug addiction among the youth and appealed to the community, self-help groups, and faith centres to actively participate in eradicating the menace of drugs, tuberculosis, and cancer.
During his visit to Gandhigram, Governor Parnaik encouraged villagers to prepare for upcoming developmental activities advised them to focus on tourism, citing the area’s immense potential for eco and adventure tourism.
Local MLA Minister Kamlung Mosang and Deputy Commissioner Sunny Singh briefed the Governor on the state government’s developmental initiatives in the Miao subdivision.
Inspector General of Police (Law and Order) Chukhu Apa, Commissioner, UD, Pawan Kumar Sain, Superintendent of Police Kirli Padu, government officials, and the public were present at the meetings, among others.
