Itanagar: On the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen K T Parnaik (Retd) outlined the state government’s 24 key initiatives focused on modernising governance, enhancing quality of life, and ensuring inclusive and sustainable growth.
Unfurling the national flag at IG Park in Itanagar, the Governor emphasised the government’s commitment to digitising financial systems, improving service delivery, and streamlining processes to foster ease of living and ease of doing business.
“The government is adopting a ‘Bottom-up Planning’ approach to empower local administrations and involve communities in decision-making, strengthening democracy at the grassroots level,” Parnaik said.
He further highlighted efforts to eliminate unnecessary regulations, repeal outdated laws, and create a simpler, more efficient service delivery system, including the establishment of a central citizen data repository to enhance accessibility.
The Governor also spotlighted the state’s commitment to fully implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
This includes attracting top-tier educational institutions to the state and modernising school infrastructure under the ARUN Schools for Rising India (SHRI) Mission, in alignment with the PM SHRI Mission.
He also mentioned the revamped Dulari Kanya scheme, which incentivizes girls’ education and encourages higher education participation.
Women’s empowerment remains a priority for the state, with plans to support 21,000 women in earning over Rs 1 lakh annually through the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ initiative, which equips women with the tools and guidance for economic independence.
In the agriculture sector, the state is promoting natural farming, supporting local crafts, and expanding horticulture to boost rural incomes, while new policies protect traditional handicrafts and artisans.
Infrastructure development is central to the state’s vision, with a strong emphasis on achieving 100% physical and digital connectivity.
The Governor announced plans for real-time tracking of public infrastructure to improve transparency and efficiency.
To support urban expansion sustainably, the state is updating the master plan for the Itanagar-Naharlagun twin city.
Parnaik also shared that Arunachal Pradesh is experiencing an impressive economic growth rate of 11.01%, surpassing the national average.
This growth is further complemented by the government’s success in ensuring 100% coverage of 11 out of 17 major national schemes, extending essential services like shelter, electricity, sanitation, water, healthcare, and employment to the most remote areas.
Arunachal Pradesh ranks third in the ‘Zero Hunger’ Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) with a score of 81, well above the national average of 52, reflecting the government’s dedication to strengthening healthcare, expanding access to essential services, and promoting community wellness.
To harness the potential of the state’s youth, the Governor declared 2024-25 as the ‘Year of Youth.’
As part of this initiative, young people will receive advanced training in adventure sports like river rafting, scuba diving, and paragliding, which will also boost tourism.
The state has also launched the 4th edition of the Arunachal Pradesh Entrepreneurship Development Programme (APEDP) to encourage youth to create jobs and foster economic growth.
The ‘SEE Trinity’ approach—Skill Development, Entrepreneurship, and Employment—aims to generate over 25,000 jobs and self-employment opportunities, further enhancing the state’s economy.
Governor Parnaik emphasised the importance of preserving Arunachal Pradesh’s rich cultural heritage alongside development.
“We are committed to ensuring that our growth respects our culture, protects our rights, and promotes long-term prosperity,” he said.
He also called for collective action against substance abuse, urging the youth to embrace positive paths for self-improvement and contribute to the state’s progress.
