Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K T Parnaik on Monday commended the Indian Army for its unwavering dedication to safeguarding the state’s borders and ensuring peace in sensitive regions.

The governor, during a meeting with Major General Vivek Bakshi, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 56 Infantry Division, at Raj Bhavan, expressed confidence in the Army’s preparedness along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and its critical role in maintaining territorial integrity.

The discussion covered a broad spectrum of issues, including the security situation along the LAC, disaster preparedness, and welfare measures for ex-servicemen and ‘veer naris.’

The governor emphasised the importance of civil-military synergy in addressing these concerns and highlighted successful collaborative efforts such as infrastructure development, disaster response, and community outreach programs.

Parnaik praised the Army’s involvement in community initiatives and underscored the transformative potential of projects like the Vibrant Villages Programme when executed in partnership with civil agencies.

He called for more welfare-driven activities, including job fairs, medical camps, and pension outreach drives in remote areas, to benefit veterans and their families.

He also encouraged the Army to engage with schools and young people through motivational talks and career awareness sessions about the armed forces, aiming to inspire patriotism and discipline among youth in border regions.

“Such efforts not only foster national pride but also open up opportunities for the next generation,” he stated.

In response, Major General Bakshi assured the governor of the Army’s continued support and its commitment to collaborating with the state government in achieving shared objectives of security, development, and public welfare.
