Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt. General K.T. Parnaik (Retd.) on Saturday chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the prevailing law and order situation in the state’s sensitive Tirap, Changlang, and Longding (TCL) districts.
The session brought together top political leaders, civil and police administration, and security agencies to chart a unified response to the challenges in the region.
Expressing concern over persistent issues impeding development in the TCL belt, the Governor underscored the need for collective action and a coordinated strategy to support both state and central government initiatives aimed at uplifting the region.
“We must work together with unity of purpose to overcome these challenges,” he urged, calling for dialogue and collaboration among all stakeholders.
He emphasized the importance of a people-centric police force — one that is empathetic, accessible, and responsive to the needs of even the most marginalized communities.
Attending the maiden security review for the TCL region were Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, Assembly Speaker Tesam Pongte, Ministers Gabriel Denwang Wangsu and Wangki Lowang, along with MLAs and senior officials from the affected districts, including Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police.
In a separate event later that day, the Governor also took part in Kargil Vijay Diwas commemorations held in Namsai, near the Assam border.
Paying homage to the heroes of the 1999 Kargil War, he laid a wreath and paid floral tribute to fallen soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Parnaik hailed the extraordinary bravery of Indian soldiers who defended the nation under the harshest conditions.
“Their courage is etched not only in history books but in the soul of the nation,” he said, adding that the day serves as a reminder to uphold the values they fought for.

Calling upon youth to carry the torch forward, the Governor encouraged them to draw inspiration from the sacrifices of India’s brave hearts and contribute to building a stronger nation.
Deputy CM Chowna Mein and Brigadier Sarabjeet Singh, Commander of 25 Sector Assam Rifles, also addressed the gathering.
