GUWAHATI: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu met with Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama on Wednesday at Bodhgaya.
Seeking blessings for the welfare of all, Chief Minister Khandu engaged in profound discussions on compassion, peace, and the well-being of humanity during the meeting.
Expressing his sentiments on a social media platform on December 20, Khandu posted, “Sought his blessings for welfare of all. Engaging discussions on compassion, peace, and humanity’s welfare ensued. Invited His Holiness to visit Arunachal Pradesh.”
During the meeting, Chief Minister Khandu revealed that he received invaluable teachings on Boddhicitta—an enlightening concept that involves purging evils within oneself through compassion.
Describing the encounter as “an inspiring and enlightening experience”, Chief Minister Khandu reflected on the profound teachings received from the Tibetan spiritual leader.
Earlier on December 19, Chief Minister Khandu dedicated a significant milestone to the people of Arunachal Pradesh—a newly inaugurated Arunachal State Guest House located in the holy city of Gaya, Bihar.
The guest house, managed by the state Department of Karmik and Adhyatmik Affairs (DoKAA) and executed by the state Water Resources Department (WRD), not only provides accommodation for Buddhist pilgrims from Arunachal Pradesh but also serves as a versatile convention and cultural centre.
He went on to recall that late Dorjee Khandu, his father and the then Chief Minister in 2011, had initiated the process by writing a letter to his Bihar counterpart Nitish Kumar, seeking a plot of land for the construction of the guest house.
“Hundreds of pilgrims from our state, especially from the districts of West Kameng and Tawang come here, particularly during the winters. The dormitories in the guest house are specifically designed to accommodate devotees. With this, one of my late father’s incomplete dreams and aspirations of the Buddhist people of my state have been fulfilled,” Chief Minister Khandu told a national daily.
