Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu arrived in Gujarat on Wednesday to participate in the Bharat Parv celebrations commemorating the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first home minister and architect of national unity.
Khandu, accompanied by Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, said the event is a moment of pride for the nation, honouring Patel’s enduring role in uniting the country.
“Reached Vadodara, Gujarat today along with my friend, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma ji. As the nation celebrates the 150th birth anniversary of the Iron Man of India, we will attend the Bharat Parv function at Kevadia under the theme ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat’,” Khandu wrote on social media.
Organised at Ekta Nagar, Bharat Parv is being held from November 1 to 15, culminating on the birth anniversary of tribal icon Bhagwan Birsa Munda.
The fortnight-long event features cultural performances, exhibitions, and interactive sessions aimed at celebrating India’s unity in diversity.
Calling it a “proud occasion to honour the legacy of the great unifier,” Khandu said Sardar Patel’s vision of a united India remains deeply relevant today.
“His ideals continue to guide the nation in strengthening the bonds among states and communities,” he remarked.
The celebrations at Ekta Nagar bring together leaders, artists, and citizens from across the country, reaffirming the national spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat — an initiative that underscores cultural exchange and national cohesion.
