Tawang: Patriotism soared to new heights in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday as the Indian Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), and local residents joined hands for a spectacular Independence Day celebration in Chuna, a forward area of Tawang district, at an altitude of 14,000 feet.
The event, known as the ‘Tiranga March’, saw participants carrying a 100-metre-long national flag through the scenic Himalayan landscape.
The march, led by Assistant Commissioner Thutan Wangchu of Thingbu circle, included soldiers, paramilitary personnel, and villagers from Mago and Chuna.
Against the breathtaking backdrop of rugged mountains and rolling green fields, the display of the tricolour created a striking visual, symbolising unity and national pride in the border region.
After the march, participants engaged in a cleanliness drive as part of the district administration’s effort to maintain the area as a ‘No Plastic Zone’.
