Itanagar: Two hundred youths in Arunachal Pradesh were handed appointment letters on Saturday during the 18th edition of the Rozgar Mela, held at the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) North East Frontier headquarters in Itanagar.

The event was part of a nationwide recruitment drive under which more than 61,000 candidates received job offer letters across the country. Inspector General Amitabh Gupta distributed the appointment letters to the selected candidates, including 38 women, according to an official statement.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed participants at 45 Rozgar Mela venues across India through video conferencing.

In his address, he said linking young people with skills and employment opportunities, including self-employment, remains a key focus of the government.

Modi said the Rozgar Mela was launched to place government recruitment on a mission mode and has evolved into a significant platform through which lakhs of youths have secured government jobs.

Emphasising India’s demographic advantage, he said the country is among the youngest in the world and sustained efforts are being made to create employment opportunities both domestically and overseas.

Referring to women’s participation, the Prime Minister noted that over 8,000 women received appointment letters during the current edition of the Rozgar Mela.

He added that initiatives such as Mudra and Startup India have played a role in promoting women-led enterprises and self-employment.

Officials said the newly recruited candidates across the country will be joining various departments, including the ministries of Home Affairs and Health and Family Welfare, the Department of Financial Services and the Department of Higher Education.
