ITANAGAR: Namsai, under the grand initiative of “Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat”, played host to the inaugural edition of Bharat Lok Sangeet – Arunachal Utsav 2024 on March 2.
The sprawling grounds of Poi Pee Mau Tai transformed into a melting pot of traditions, melodies, and vibrant performances, as delegates from across India gathered to celebrate the rich tapestry of the nation’s cultural heritage.
The inaugural ceremony, graced by Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein, marked the beginning of an extraordinary cultural extravaganza.
With a vision to foster inter-cultural exchange and mutual respect, the festival aims to promote structured connections across linguistic boundaries, showcasing the best of India’s traditions and practices.
Twelve cultural troupes, hailing from various corners of the country, including three from Arunachal Pradesh, took centre stage, offering a mesmerising glimpse into the kaleidoscope of Indian art forms.
From the graceful movements of Assam’s Mukha Bhaona to the rhythmic beats of Tamil Nadu’s Karagam, each performance painted a vivid portrait of India’s cultural mosaic.
In his address, Deputy Chief Minister Mein highlighted Arunachal’s rich cultural legacy, woven intricately with the threads of diversity and tradition.
With 26 major tribes and over 100 sub-tribes, the state stands as a testament to India’s pluralistic ethos, where unity thrives amidst diversity.
Mein also shed light on Arunachal’s natural splendour and historical landmarks, inviting attendees to explore the state’s cultural treasures, from the sacred Parshuram Kund to the ancient Tawang Monastery.
The festivities, spanning two days, promise an enchanting array of performances, including the iconic Unity Dance of Lekang Circle and the spirited Nocte War Dance of Tirap District.
Culminating in a spectacular Folk Fusion concert by Maylula Band and Chorun Mugli, the Arunachal Utsav stands as a proof to India’s cultural resilience and unity in diversity.
As the sun sets on the inaugural day of celebrations, Namsai reverberates with the echoes of laughter, music, and camaraderie, as delegates and spectators alike come together to revel in the magic of Bharat Lok Sangeet – Arunachal Utsav 2024.
