Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh’s disaster response capacity is set to receive a boost with 152 National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets trained to assist civil authorities during emergencies, officials said.
The cadets completed their training during an annual camp held at Dera Natung Government College in Itanagar, which focused on disaster preparedness and emergency response.
According to an official statement, the programme blended classroom sessions with practical exercises to ensure hands-on exposure.
Training covered essential skills such as basic search and rescue operations, first aid, casualty evacuation and coordination with the civil administration.
Special emphasis was placed on disaster scenarios frequently faced by the region, including earthquakes, floods, landslides and cloudbursts.
Officials said the cadets are now equipped to extend critical support to local communities and government agencies during natural disasters and other emergency situations, strengthening the state’s overall response mechanism.
