GUWAHATI: The world of rock music mourns the loss of CJ Snare, the lead vocalist and founding member of Firehouse, who passed away at the age of 64.

The news of Snare’s death was shared by the band on Sunday through an official statement on the Firehouse Facebook page.

“Today is a sad day for Rock N Roll,” the statement began solemnly.

“It is with great sorrow we are letting the world know we have lost our brother: CJ Snare, the rock and roll warrior, lead vocalist, and a founding member of Firehouse,” it further read.

Notably, Firehouse made history in December 2004 by becoming the first major international rock band to perform concert dates in Northeast.

Their groundbreaking Indian tour included sold-out stadium shows in cities like Shillong, Dimapur, and Aizawl, setting records and leaving an indelible mark on the Indian rock scene.

According to the band’s statement, Snare was expected to make a return to touring this summer after recovering from abdominal surgery he had undergone in the fall.

However, his unexpected passing occurred at his home on Friday night.

The statement concluded with heartfelt condolences to Snare’s family, friends, and fans worldwide, bidding farewell to the legendary vocalist with the words, “‘Reach for the Sky’ CJ! You will be forever missed by family, friends, fans and your band mates. You’re singing with the angels now.”

Having signed with Epic Records in 1989, Firehouse soared to prominence in the early ’90s with two top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 – Love of a Lifetime in 1991 and When I Look Into Your Eyes in 1992, solidifying their place in rock music history.
