GUWAHATI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National leader and Delhi government minister, Atishi, is set to make her mark in Assam as she gears up to campaign for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Scheduled to commence on April 8, Atishi’s campaign itinerary promises a flurry of activity across various constituencies.
Rajesh Sharma, AAP North East Supervisor, revealed Atishi’s ambitious campaign programme, underscoring the party’s commitment to making a mark in Assam’s political landscape.
The APP Minister’s campaign will kick off with a road show in Duliajan, Dibrugarh, advocating for AAP candidate Manoj Dhanowar.
The following day, she will partake in a bike rally and address the public in Margherita, Tinsukia district, followed by another road show in Tinsukia later in the day.
Continuing her campaign tour, Atishi will engage with the press in Tezpur on April 10, paving the way for a road show in support of AAP candidate Rishiraj Kaundinya.
The campaign endeavours aim to bolster the prospects of AAP candidates in Dibrugarh and Sonitpur Lok Sabha constituencies.
Atishi’s visit comes at a time when AAP is facing a tumultuous time with its chief, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in Delhi’s Tihar jail, ensnared in a legal tangle with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) over a Delhi liquor scam.
Amidst the tumult, Atishi has emerged as a vocal advocate for the party, addressing concerns surrounding the alleged excise policy scam case under ED scrutiny.
On Saturday, while addressing the press in the national capital, she contends that despite a two-year investigation, no concrete money trail linking AAP has been established.
Despite this lack of evidence, she laments, AAP leaders have been subjected to arrest by the federal probe agency.
Highlighting the judiciary’s scrutiny of the case, Atishi points to the Supreme Court’s repeated inquiries regarding the elusive money trail.
She asserts that the ED has been unable to provide satisfactory answers to these queries, leaving the matter unresolved.
