Guwahati: Indians love to travel is unmistakable, and Guwahati is one of the most searched travel destination in India.
To measure the preferred choice of travel destinations of Indians, wowtickets.com, a UK-based platform recently launched a survey in India.
The findings revealed that in addition to popular destinations like Goa and Srinagar, many Indians are now venturing to cities like Guwahati, Pune and Patna.
According to the survey, which had a sample size of 3.6 crore, the 15 most searched Indian destinations include Guwahati.
The other top most searched travel destinations Goa, Mumbai, Delhi, Srinagar, Bengaluru, Pune, Patna, Leh, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Varanasi, and Bagdogra.
More people from Delhi and Bengaluru searched for Guwahati, the wowtickets.com survey revealed.
Tourists from Chennai also showed keen interest in Guwahati, and even Agartala.
Similarly, people from Kolkata were also found to have searched for Guwahati and Agartala on the internet.
Guwahati is the largest city of Northeast India. Its airport, the Lokpriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport is the 12th busiest in India.
Also known as the “Gateway to North East India”, Guwahati is one of the fastest-growing non-Metro cities in India.
Many ancient Hindu temples like the Kamakhya Temple, Ugratara Temple, Basistha Temple, Doul Govinda Temple, and Umananda Temple also makes Guwahati one of the major Hindu pilgrimage destinations in India.
