Guwahati: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Guwahati on Saturday evening, and was accorded a warm reception at the Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport.
PM Modi landed at the airport at around 6.30 PM, and was welcomed by Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, senior ministers and bureaucrats.
As the Prime Minister’s entourage rolled out of the airport, dancers of different ethnic communities performed dance performances to accord a warm welcome.
Prime Minister Modi was also seen waving at the dancers.
Security personnel put up barricades to ensure foolproof security for the visiting Prime Minister in Guwahati.
Though the state government did not announce the detailed programme of the visiting Prime Minister, it is expected that he is likely to meet Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and other senior BJP members on Saturday evening.
PM Modi will also meet the BJP’s state core committee and discuss on BJP’s strategies for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
The Prime Minister is scheduled to address a public meeting at 11.30 AM on Sunday at Khanapara, and is scheduled to roll out developmental projects worth nearly Rs 11,600 crore.
As per reports, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will stay at the State Guest House at Koinadhara.
