Agartala: Members of TIPRA Motha will hold demonstration in New Delhi to demand for a “Greater Tipraland” state.
TIPRA Motha chief Pradyot Manikya Debbarman said the indigenous party of Tripura will stage a two-day “peaceful protest” in New Delhi on December 5 and 6.
“Warriors will be traveling to #Delhi to compel the decision-makers in Delhi to listen to our lawful and constitutional (demand),” he tweeted.

TIPRA Motha has hired a train to ferry its members to New Delhi to hold the peaceful protest.
Motha leaders on Wednesday said that there were several rounds of talk with the central government on the long pending 125th constitution amendment bill.
It was proposed that the 125th amendment is aimed at elevation of the status of Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTADC). But nothing has progressed.
Around 2,000 cadres of TIPRA Motha will start from Agartala in a 16 coach special train on December 2.
The special train is scheduled to reach New Delhi on December 4 night. More than 2,000 Tiprasa (indigenous tribes) residing in Delhi NCR are also likely to take part at the peaceful protest.
During the peaceful protest, TIPRA Motha would submit a memorandum to Prime Minister and other concerned ministries to press for the demand of Greater Tipraland.
“Thousands of Tiprasa from all over the country will travel to New Delhi to compel the decision-makers in the power corridors at the national capital to listen to our lawful and constitutional demands,” Pradyot Manikya Debbarman, said.
The TIPRA Motha chief said, “Let’s show the true spirit and power of unity for a greater cause.”
Recently the CPI (M) and Congress leaders have openly extended support to the demand of Greater Tipraland while BJP opposed it citing the reason that such demand would widen the communal divide between tribal and non-tribal in Tripura.
