GUWAHATI: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) Chairman, Dr Sridhar Panikkar Somanath, along with a team of head scientists, is set to visit Guwahati today.

The distinguished team is scheduled to participate in a grand welcome ceremony and an interactive programme with students organised by Pragjyotishpur University.

The event is slated to take place at the Srimanta Sankaradev International Auditorium of Srimanta Sankaradev Kalakshetra at 3:00 pm today.

Dr. Yogesh Kakati, the Registrar of the University, shared with a local daily that the university authorities have meticulously arranged a special programme to honour ISRO Chairman Dr. Somanath.

The celebration marks the victorious achievement of Chandrayaan-3’s lunar landing and the recent triumph of ISRO’s solar mission, Aditya L-1.

The commemorative programme will commence with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by floral tributes to the statue of the great artist Jyoti Prasad Agarwala in remembrance of Shilpi Diwas.

In an effort to engage the academic community, students from the higher secondary final year and final year graduation are invited to participate in the welcome ceremony.

They will also have the exclusive opportunity to interact with the esteemed scientists, exchanging thoughts on a variety of subjects related to science and technology.

Sailendra Pandey and Lalji Sonari, representing the organising team and media architects of Shankardev Education and Research Foundation (SERF), have extended their invitation to all interested students and individuals to attend this momentous program.

As the city anticipates the arrival of the Chandrayaan-3 team, Guwahati is abuzz with excitement, eager to celebrate the achievements of India’s space exploration endeavours.

The event promises to be a convergence of scientific brilliance and academic enthusiasm, fostering an environment of knowledge exchange and inspiration for the aspiring minds of Guwahati.
