Reliance Jio Infocomm has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with the Indian Institute of Technology-Bombay to launch the “Bharat GPT” programme.
Speaking at the institute’s annual Techfest, chairman Akash Ambani revealed the company’s strategic focus on building an “ecosystem of development” and detailed plans for the imminent “Jio 2.0” vision.
The company, a subsidiary of Reliance Industries, is actively considering the launch of a television operating system.
According to Ambani, they have been developing their own OS for TVs over an extended period and are currently exploring comprehensive strategies for its launch.
Ambani shared insights into Reliance Jio’s commitment to artificial intelligence (AI), emphasising its transformative potential across sectors.
He expressed the company’s determination to launch AI both vertically and horizontally, spanning media, commerce, communication, and devices.
Notably, Ambani disclosed the company’s comprehensive efforts in crafting its own operating system for televisions.
As 2024 marks a significant year for the Ambani family, with a wedding on the horizon, Jio also gears up to offer 5G private networks to enterprises of all sizes.
Ambani affirmed India’s role as the “biggest innovation centre” for the next decade and projected the country to become a USD 6 trillion economy by the end of the decade.
Reflecting on Jio’s philosophy, Ambani highlighted the company’s pursuit of initiatives beneficial to India, with monetary gains seen as a byproduct.
Calling Jio the “largest startup in the world”, Ambani encouraged young entrepreneurs to embrace failure without fear.
He urged them to align their work with societal good, particularly in the consumer space, and emphasised the power of technology as a “great equalizer” that transcends boundaries.
As Reliance Jio continues its journey as a technological trailblazer, the collaboration with IIT-Bombay and the vision for Jio 2.0 will be interesting future projects to lookout for.
