Imphal: In a series of operations, security forces in Manipur arrested five persons associated with banned militant outfits and seized arms, narcotics and other materials, officials said on Monday.
In an operation on Saturday (March 14), security personnel apprehended an active woman cadre of the banned People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
The accused, identified as Auna Devi alias Ibeyaima (43), a resident of Kumbi Ishing Chaiba Leikai in Bishnupur district, was arrested from the Sawombung Forest Gate area under Lamlai.
Officials said she was actively involved in recruiting cadres for the outfit. A mobile phone was seized from her possession.
In a separate operation, security forces arrested three individuals from the Lilong Bazar area along National Highway 102 under Lilong.
The arrested persons were identified as Md. Abdul Gafar alias Thoi (22) of Kiyamgei Takhok Makha, Md. Boicha (23) of Lilong Leihaokhong, and Kh. Akip alias Aki (23), also from Kiyamgei Takhok Makha.
During the operation, security personnel recovered one 9 mm pistol with a magazine, seven live rounds of 9 mm ammunition, 494 grams of heroin (brown sugar), four mobile phones and a Hyundai Creta.
In another operation, security forces arrested an active cadre of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) from the Wangkhei Andro Parking area under Porompat police station in Imphal East district.

The arrested individual was identified as Thiyam Athoi Meitei alias Athouba (24), a resident of Chanam Sandrok Mayai Leikai under Irilbung police station in Imphal East district.
Officials said further investigation is underway.
