A National Lok Adalat was organised across Meghalaya on Saturday, during which 151 cases were settled, involving a total settlement amount of Rs 1.61 crore, an official statement said.
The Lok Adalat was conducted by the Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority at the High Court of Meghalaya and in district courts across the state, except in the Garo Hills region.
As per the statement, a total of 496 cases were taken up during the Lok Adalat, including 168 pre-litigation cases and 328 pending cases. 151 cases were successfully settled, with a total settlement amount of Rs. 1,61,66,675.

The official statement read, “The Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority, under the patronage and guidance of the Hon’ble Mrs. Justice Revati Mohite Dere, Chief Justice, High Court of Meghalaya and Patron in Chief, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority and supervision of Hon’ble Mr. Justice H. S. Thangkhiew, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya and Executive Chairman, Meghalaya State Legal Services Authority and Hon’ble Mr. Justice W. Diengdoh, Judge, High Court of Meghalaya and Chairperson, High Court Legal Services Committee has organised the National Lok Adalat on the 14th of March, 2026 in the High Court of Meghalaya and all the districts of the State of Meghalaya (excluding the Garo Hills Region), under the aegis of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA).”
