Imphal: The Manipur government has dismissed reports of a shortage of LPG and petroleum products in the state amid the ongoing West Asia crisis, stating that claims about a scarcity of cooking gas are misleading.
In a statement issued late on Friday, officials said Indian Oil Corporation Limited’s Imphal office has confirmed that adequate stocks of LPG and other petroleum products are currently available in the state.
According to the release, the brief disruption in LPG distribution witnessed over the past few days was caused by a technical problem in the nationwide Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) system.
The statement added that the issue has now been resolved and clarified that it had no connection with the availability of LPG stock in Manipur.
Director of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution (CAF&PD) Manipur, K. Bono Singh, assured that there is no shortage of LPG or other petroleum products in the State and urged the public not to panic over
He said that certain social media users and propagandists have been spreading misleading claims about an alleged shortage or possible shortage of LPG and petroleum products in Manipur.
According to the department, such rumours are creating unnecessary confusion among consumers and the general public.

IOCL has reaffirmed that adequate stocks of LPG and petroleum products are available to meet consumer demand in the state.
In view of the situation, the CAF&PD Department has appealed to all consumers not to panic or engage in unnecessary hoarding of LPG cylinders or other petroleum products.
