The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) has sought a detailed report from the Delhi Police Commissioner regarding the alleged assault of a woman from Manipur in South Delhi, reportedly linked to racial abuse.
The Commission issued a notice to Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha, directing him to submit a report within two weeks.
The report is expected to include details on the progress of the investigation as well as the health condition of the victim.
According to officials, the NHRC took suo motu cognisance of a media report about the incident, which allegedly took place on March 8 in the Malviya Nagar area.

The woman was reportedly assaulted after she objected to lewd remarks and racial comments made by a group of youths.
The Commission noted that if the allegations reported in the media are found to be true, the incident would constitute a serious violation of the victim’s human rights.
Reports indicate that the incident occurred while the woman and her friend were taking photographs at a park in the area.
In a separate matter, the NHRC has also issued notices to the Haryana Chief Secretary and the Gurugram Police Commissioner over the reported death of seven workers in a wall collapse in Bilaspur, Gurugram, on March 9.
The Commission has asked authorities to submit a detailed report on the incident within two weeks.
