A man from Assam has been arrested for allegedly cheating a woman from Arunachal Pradesh in an online fraud case by posing as a retailer offering iron rods at unusually low prices.
The accused, identified as Soribuddin Ahmed, was apprehended on Thursday from Kutubpur in Bihpuria, Assam, by a team from the Papu Hills Police Station, officials said on Friday.
According to Naharlagun Superintendent of Police Nyelam Nega, the victim had transferred an advance payment of Rs 90,000 to the accused after he promised to supply iron rods at a discounted rate.
However, the materials were never delivered, prompting the woman to file a police complaint.
