India’s Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill is poised to be honoured as the Cricketer of the Year at the annual awards ceremony of the Board of Control for Cricket in India, scheduled to take place on March 15.
The 26-year-old enjoyed an exceptional run in international cricket over the past year, excelling in both Tests and One-Day Internationals despite missing out on India’s T20I squad that successfully defended the World Cup title last month.
Gill produced a prolific performance in the longest format, scoring 983 runs in Tests at an average exceeding 70.
His standout contribution came during India’s drawn away series against England cricket team in 2025, where he amassed an impressive 754 runs.
In the ODI format, Gill added 490 runs to his tally, including 188 crucial runs during India’s triumphant campaign in the ICC Champions Trophy.
Across formats, the stylish right-hander accumulated a total of 1,764 runs at an average of 49, registering seven centuries and three half-centuries during the period under review.
While his performances in T20 Internationals did not reach similar heights, Gill showcased remarkable form in the Indian Premier League, scoring 650 runs for the Gujarat Titans at an average of 50.
Meanwhile, former India head coach Rahul Dravid is set to receive the prestigious Col CK Nayudu Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of his immense contribution to Indian cricket, including guiding the national side to the 2024 T20 World Cup title.
The Mumbai Cricket Association is also expected to be honoured as the Best Association in domestic cricket at the awards ceremony.
