Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Sunday flagged off the high-altitude Tsomgo Ultra 5.0 Marathon from Gangtok’s Ganesh Tok.
The high-altitude marathon featured multiple race categories designed for participants with varying levels of endurance and experience. These included a 72-km ultra race, 21-km half marathon, 10-km run, and a 5-km fun run.
The event attracted professional athletes, fitness enthusiasts, and amateur runners, many of whom were eager to experience the unique challenge of running at high altitude.
The event witnessed participation and enthusiasm of the runners, reflecting a strong spirit of endurance and a shared commitment to health, fitness, and an active lifestyle.

In his speech, the chief minister praised the enthusiastic participation, emphasizing the role such events play in fostering endurance, discipline, and healthy living, particularly among the youth. He also noted the escalating enthusiasm for fitness and outdoor activities across the state.
