Tight security arrangements have been put in place for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup final between India national cricket team and New Zealand national cricket team scheduled to be played on Sunday at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

According to G S Malik, more than 3,000 police personnel along with around 1,000 home guards will be deployed to ensure smooth conduct of the high-profile match.

Addressing reporters on Saturday, the police commissioner said elaborate security measures have been finalised in view of the large number of spectators expected at the stadium for the final.

Senior officers will supervise the arrangements at the venue, including a joint commissioner of police and 12 deputy commissioners of police, along with personnel from various units.

As part of enhanced surveillance and safety measures, authorities will deploy three anti-drone systems and eight teams from the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad.

A full rehearsal of the security arrangements was also conducted ahead of the match.

Police have also introduced additional crowd management measures this time, including the creation of holding areas near Gate 1 and Gate 2 of the stadium to prevent overcrowding and reduce the risk of any untoward incidents.

Inside the stadium, a separate monitoring system will be in place to prevent spectators from entering the playing area, with a designated officer overseeing the arrangements.

The police have also made provisions for the safety and convenience of women spectators.

Female police personnel will be deployed alongside male officers, and frisking will be conducted by women staff for female spectators and by male staff for men.

Authorities have advised spectators to use public transport such as buses and the metro to avoid traffic congestion around the stadium.

Transport services are expected to operate late into the night to facilitate the movement of fans after the match.

Police have also warned against parking vehicles outside designated areas and cautioned that strict action will be taken against anyone involved in black marketing of match tickets.
