Dibrugarh: A mini truck was severely damaged after it collided with a moving train near Laipuli in Assam’s Tinsukia district on Saturday afternoon, officials said.
The accident occurred around 2 pm near Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya at Laipuli when the vehicle reportedly attempted to cross a railway track as a train was passing through the section.
According to preliminary information, the train had already received a green signal from railway authorities and was travelling along its scheduled route when the mini truck driver allegedly tried to cross the track despite the approaching train.
The vehicle was struck by the train, causing a loud impact that drew the attention of residents in the nearby area.
Locals rushed to the spot shortly after the collision, while railway officials and police personnel also arrived to inspect the scene and take stock of the situation.
Officials said the force of the impact dragged the mini truck for some distance along the track, leaving the vehicle badly mangled.

No casualties were reported in the incident, according to officials.
Authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the accident, including whether warning signals or safety barriers were present at the crossing and if they were ignored.
Railway authorities have urged motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution at railway crossings and strictly follow safety protocols to avoid such accidents.
They also reiterated that negligence at railway crossings continues to be a major cause of mishaps and appealed to the public to remain vigilant.
