Itanagar: In a move to bolster public health and regulatory compliance, the administration of Arunachal Pradesh’s newly formed Keyi Panyor district has issued a stern directive requiring all food business operators (FBOs) to secure legal certification immediately.
Likha Tejji, the Deputy Commissioner in charge of Keyi Panyor district, released an executive order on Thursday mandating that every establishment—ranging from high-end resorts and hotels to local bakeries, restaurants, and homestays—must possess both a valid FSSAI license and a trade license to continue operations.
The administration highlighted that operating without these credentials is a direct violation of federal law.
Under Section 31(1) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, it is a statutory requirement for any food-related business in India to be registered with the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) before opening its doors to the public.
Furthermore, the DC emphasized that running a business without a trade license issued by the competent local authority is strictly illegal and will no longer be tolerated.
The Deputy Commissioner further directed all FBOs to strictly follow food safety and hygiene standards in the preparation, storage and sale of food items.

The order, which has come into immediate effect, warned that violators would face penalties under the FSSAI Act and other applicable laws.
