Indian cricket star Smriti Mandhana has become the first cricketer in the world to be honoured with a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll inspired by her likeness.
The left-handed batter has been named in the brand’s first-ever Barbie Dream Team, a global initiative recognising women who have broken barriers and excelled in their fields.
Ahead of International Women’s Day 2026, Mattel’s “Dream Team” initiative honours barrier-breaking women, and Mandhana proudly represents India and women’s cricket.
This celebrates her outstanding contributions to women’s cricket and her influence as a role model for young athletes worldwide.
Mandhana also posted pictures of her customised Barbie doll on Instagram, calling the moment surreal.
She wrote, “Still processing this moment… Seeing a one-of-a-kind Barbie doll inspired by my journey is something I never imagined growing up. Cricket has given me so much, and if my story helps even one girl believe she belongs on the field, that means everything.”
“Honored to be part of Barbie’s Dream Team alongside incredible women from around the world who are breaking barriers in their own fields. When girls see what’s possible, they dream bigger,” she added.

According to Mattel, the Dream Team recognises women who have achieved significant milestones and opened doors for the next generation.
“The dream is real and we have the team to prove it,” the company said while unveiling the initiative, adding that the women chosen have led the way through groundbreaking achievements in their respective careers.
Mandhana is among an elite group of eight influential women from diverse professions around the world. The Dream Team also features tennis legend Serena Williams, astronaut Kellie Gerardi, Mexican racing driver Regina Sirvent, English footballer Chloe Kelly, German singer Helene Fischer, climber Zoja Skubis, and Australian surfing champion Stephanie Gilmore.
