Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma dedicated the newly constructed Dinesh Goswami Flyover in Guwahati’s Bharalumukh to the public on Wednesday.
The flyover has been constructed for Rs 99.06 crore, and is expected to improve vehicular flow along one of the city’s busiest corridors.
Taking to the micro-blogging site X, the Chief Minister’s Office said that the flyover will ensure seamless movement over the railway line, significantly reducing rail-crossing accidents as well as air and noise pollution.
Describing it as a symbol of Assamese pride, resilience and progressive spirit, CM Sarma has reaffirmed the Assam government’s commitment to building a safer, smarter and more connected state.
He further noted that commuters travelling from Santipur towards Bharalumukh, Kamakhya or Sukleshwar would get a two-lane stretch at the midpoint.
“The design was finalised after consultations with Indian Railways, and the flyover has been completed within 15 months, which is otherwise difficult for such projects,” Sarma said, adding that the original deadline was 24 months.

The 1.2-kilometre-long structure has been named after former Union Minister Dinesh Goswami as a tribute to his contribution to Assam and national politics.
The structure will link Machkhowa with the Shantipur Swiss Gate area, aiming to ease traffic congestion and improve connectivity in the city.
Dinesh Goswami, a prominent leader of the Asom Gana Parishad, was credited by the Chief Minister for playing a pivotal role in enhancing Assam’s share of central grants from a 70:30 to a ratio of 90:10.
