The long-running horror spoof series Scary Movie is making a comeback, with its sixth instalment scheduled to hit Indian theatres on June 12, Paramount Pictures India has announced.
Marking 26 years since the original film’s release, the new chapter brings back key members of the original cast, including Marlon Wayans, Shawn Wayans, Anna Faris and Regina Hall.
The actors will reprise their popular roles as Shorty, Ray, Cindy and Brenda, rekindling the franchise that first gained global attention in 2000.
Helmed by director Michael Tiddes, the upcoming film promises to lampoon the current wave of horror cinema trends — from reboots and remakes to prequels, sequels, origin stories and so-called “final chapters.”
According to the makers, the parody will extend across multiple contemporary horror sub-genres, with the Wayans brothers asserting that “nothing is sacred.”
In addition to the returning leads, the ensemble cast features Damon Wayans Jr., Kim Wayans, Gregg Wayans, Cheri Oteri, Chris Elliott, Dave Sheridan, Heidi Gardner, Lochlyn Munro, Olivia Rose Keegan, Ruby Snowber, Savannah Lee Nassif, Sydney Park, Benny Zielke and Cameron Scott Roberts.

Created by the Wayans brothers, the franchise debuted in 2000 as a satire of late 1990s slasher films, particularly Scream and I Know What You Did Last Summer.
The first film emerged as a major box-office hit, earning over USD 278 million worldwide and spawning multiple sequels.
While the Wayans brothers exited the series after the second film, the third and fourth instalments were directed by David Zucker and shifted focus to spoofing films such as The Ring, Signs and War of the Worlds.
The fifth film, released in 2013, featured Ashley Tisdale and Simon Rex.
With the original cast returning, the sixth instalment aims to revive the irreverent tone that defined the early films while taking on the evolving landscape of modern horror cinema.
