Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh on Tuesday called on Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi and apprised him of the progress and current status of various road projects in the state.
The chief minister was joined by his deputies — Nemcha Kipgen of the Bharatiya Janata Party and Losii Dikho of the Naga People’s Front — during the meeting with the Union minister.
During the discussion, Singh presented an update on ongoing road development works and urged the Centre to prioritise Manipur’s proposals, particularly the construction of an elevated highway and the upgradation and reinforcement of national highways across the state.
“Briefed him on the progress of ongoing road projects in Manipur and requested special attention to our proposals for elevated highways and strengthening of National Highways in the state,” CM Khemchand Singh said in a post on X.
