Guwahati: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will arrive in Assam on February 18 for a two-day visit focused on organisational and election-related consultations ahead of the state Assembly elections.
The visit will centre on a series of closed-door meetings with party leaders and organisational functionaries across different levels of the Congress structure.
As chairperson of the Congress screening committee for the Assam Assembly polls, Priyanka Gandhi is expected to play a key role in reviewing party preparedness, candidate selection processes and alliance strategy.
State Congress general secretary (organisation) Bipul Gogoi said the Congress leader will hold separate interactions with members of the political affairs committee, MLAs, district presidents, frontal organisation heads, working presidents, MPs, cell heads and booth committee leaders.
Meetings will also include interactions with the legislature party leadership and office bearers from different organisational wings.
She is scheduled to return to Delhi on the evening of February 19.

The Assam Assembly elections for all 126 constituencies are expected to be held in March–April, with the Congress planning to contest the polls as part of a broader opposition alliance.
The party’s screening committee for the state elections also includes Lok Sabha MPs Imran Masood and Saptagiri Sankar Ulaka, along with Sirivella Prasad.
At present, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party holds 64 seats in the 126-member Assam Assembly.
Its allies include the Asom Gana Parishad with nine MLAs, the United People’s Party Liberal with seven members, and the Bodoland People’s Front with three MLAs.
In the opposition camp, the Indian National Congress has 26 MLAs, the All India United Democratic Front has 15, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has one, along with one Independent legislator.
