Guwahati: The 13th edition of the India–Kyrgyzstan Joint Special Forces Exercise KHANJAR is currently underway at Missamari in Assam, further strengthening defence cooperation, interoperability and tactical synergy between the elite forces of the two countries. The exercise began on February 4 and will conclude on February 17.
Exercise KHANJAR is an annual bilateral military engagement conducted alternately in India and Kyrgyzstan since its inception in 2011. It brings together specialised contingents from the Indian Army and the Armed Forces of the Kyrgyz Republic to undertake joint training in counter-terrorism operations and special forces tactics under a United Nations mandate framework.

The ongoing drills feature simulated scenarios in both urban and rugged terrain, aimed at enhancing tactical coordination, operational efficiency and mutual understanding between the participating forces. The structured training modules are designed to improve responsiveness across diverse operational environments and strengthen joint operational preparedness.
This edition of the exercise reaffirms the shared commitment of India and Kyrgyzstan to address evolving security challenges, particularly international terrorism and extremism. It also underscores their resolve to deepen defence ties, enhance mutual trust and contribute to regional stability.
