A Shillong-bound aircraft was shifted to an isolation bay at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Saturday after a handwritten note claiming the presence of a bomb was found onboard, prompting an immediate security response.
Officials said the note was discovered inside the aircraft’s lavatory by a crew member during pre-boarding checks, before any passengers had entered the plane.
The flight, IndiGo 6E 7304, was scheduled to operate the Kolkata–Shillong sector.
Following the alert, the aircraft was moved to a designated isolation area as per standard security protocol.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) confirmed that a comprehensive security sweep of the aircraft was underway.
“Nothing suspicious has been found so far. All precautionary measures in line with standard operating procedures are being implemented,” an AAI spokesperson said.
Security agencies continued inspections as authorities treated the incident as a bomb scare, while operations were carried out under heightened vigilance.
