Centre approves Rs 747 crore for 10 road development projects in Assam

Highlighting the Centre’s continued push to strengthen infrastructure in the Northeast, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on Friday announced the approval of Rs 617.98 crore for 10 road development projects in Assam under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) scheme.

Additionally, Rs 129.74 crore has been sanctioned for 16 bridge projects in the state under the CRIF Setu Bandhan scheme.

The combined allocation of Rs 747.72 crore is aimed at strengthening regional connectivity, improving transportation efficiency, reducing travel time, and boosting socio-economic growth across the state.

In a post on X, Gadkari said, “In Assam, Rs 617.98 Cr. has been approved for 10 road development projects under the Central Road Infrastructure Fund (CRIF) Scheme. Additionally, Rs 129.74 Cr. has been sanctioned for 16 bridge projects under the CRIF Setu Bandhan Scheme.”

“These initiatives will significantly enhance regional connectivity, improve transportation efficiency, and reduce travel time. They will also boost local trade, facilitate smoother movement of goods and people, and contribute to the socio-economic development of the state,” he added.

Following this announcement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his gratitude to Nitin Gadkari and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for their continued support to the development of the state.

In a post on X, CM Sarma said, “Connectivity is the engine of growth and Assam is picking up speed with the support of Adarniya Pradhan Mantri Shri @narendramodi ji and Union Minister Shri @nitin_gadkari ji. Major investments in roads and bridges are set to ease travel, boost trade and unlock new opportunities across the state.”
