Aizawl: Mizoram Health and Social Welfare Minister Lalrinpuii has been honoured with the ‘Women Icon Award 2026’ for her role in strengthening the state’s healthcare system and driving inclusive welfare initiatives.
The award was presented at a national summit in New Delhi on Wednesday, jointly organised by Achievers’ World and the Indian Achievers’ Forum.
The event was held under the theme “Viksit Bharat 2047 through Comprehensive Socio-Economic Development,” according to an official statement.
Addressing the gathering, Lalrinpuii described the recognition as a collective achievement rather than a personal milestone, crediting the dedication and teamwork of officials and staff of the state’s health and social welfare departments.
She said the progress made in Mizoram’s health sector reflected coordinated institutional efforts aimed at public welfare and national development.
Highlighting the limited flow of corporate social responsibility (CSR) funding to Mizoram, the minister appealed to corporate houses to collaborate with the state government, particularly in the areas of health and nutrition, which she said remain core priorities of the central government.
The award citation acknowledged several initiatives under her leadership, including the health department’s performance under the Mission Viksit Bharat framework, the implementation of the Mizoram Universal Health Care Scheme (MUHCS), significant progress in reducing infant mortality rates, and programmes aimed at supporting rural families, including assistance for transporting deceased persons from remote areas.
The statement added that several other individuals from different sectors across the country were also honoured at the summit.
