Guwahati: Srutimala Duara’s book, My Journey through Cancer, published by WizzenMonk Publishing, was launched on Sunday by Northeast Writers’ Forum.
The book launch ceremony was held at India Club in Guwahati in the presence of Dr. Neelakshi Mahanta, head of the department, Oncology, State Cancer Institute and Sahitya Akademi Award Winner Pori Hiloidari.
Dipanjol Deka, secretary Northeast Writers Forum welcomed the guests.
Dr. Neelakshi spoke on Srutimala Duara as her patient, her courage and positive vibes.
Pori Hiloidari spoke on the book, how it is an informative one on cancer struck people, the way to overcome such crisis and the wit that finds its way into the writing.
Srutimala Duara spoke how she started writing on the day she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.
Duara said she wanted to share her experiences with a wider world of readers, as she felt it might “help people who take life for granted with the belief that cancer happens to others, not to them, women who think nothing can be wrong with their bodies just because there is no outward sign and do not go for yearly checkup, and for those diagnosed with cancer.
Publisher of WizzenMonk Publishing, Bhargab Bharali spoke on the books being published and how My Journey through Cancer came into being.
The book launch was attended by hundreds of book lovers.
