Itanagar: Donyi Polo Airport at Hollongi in Arunachal Pradesh has been adjudged the Best Airport under the Regional Air Connectivity Scheme (UDAN), officials said on Saturday.
The award was presented by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu at the ‘Wings India 2026’ event held in Hyderabad. The airport was honoured under the Regional Connectivity Scheme – Ude Desh ka Aam Nagrik (RCS-UDAN) category.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein said the recognition reflects the state’s collective commitment to improving regional connectivity, strengthening infrastructure, and opening new avenues for growth, tourism and economic opportunity across Arunachal Pradesh.
Developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and inaugurated in late 2022, Donyi Polo Airport currently operates regular flights to Delhi and Kolkata, significantly enhancing passenger access and supporting economic activity in the state.

Officials said the accolade highlights Arunachal Pradesh’s progress in aviation infrastructure and connectivity, and is expected to further boost the state’s visibility on the national aviation map.
The recognition is also likely to encourage continued investment in air transport infrastructure, in line with broader efforts to drive regional development through improved connectivity, they added.
