Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Tuesday pitched the state as a promising destination for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) investments, citing its steady progress on Sustainable Development Goals, high literacy levels and a strong culture of integrity and community service.
Speaking at the launch of the CSR Matchmaking Portal, Mizoram CSR Connect, at the Aijal Club in Aizawl, the chief minister said Mizoram’s peaceful social environment, low incidence of corruption and the deeply rooted Mizo value of tlawmngaihna make it well suited for socially driven investments aimed at inclusive development.
Explaining the cultural ethos, Lalduhoma said tlawmngaihna—which reflects selflessness, hospitality and a willingness to help others even at personal cost—provides a strong foundation for effective and ethical use of CSR funds for the socio-economic benefit of the people.
Inviting corporate entities and civil society organisations to partner with the state, the Chief Minister assured that CSR contributions in Mizoram would be utilised transparently and in ways that deliver measurable impact.
He noted that despite its development efforts, Mizoram received just 0.06 per cent of India’s total CSR expenditure in 2023–24, underscoring the need to attract greater corporate participation.
To strengthen CSR engagement, Lalduhoma said a dedicated CSR Cell was set up in the Chief Minister’s Office in June 2024.
The newly launched digital portal, he added, represents a key step towards creating a structured and transparent platform that connects CSR donors with implementing agencies, while improving ease of doing CSR in the state.
The Mizoram CSR Connect portal has been developed by the Mizoram CSR Cell under the Planning and Programme Implementation Department in collaboration with UNDP India.
It aims to streamline coordination, enhance accountability and support outcome-based CSR initiatives.
UNDP India Resident Representative Angela Lusigi welcomed the initiative, describing the portal as a forward-looking model with both national and global relevance.

She reaffirmed UNDP’s commitment to sustainable development, women’s empowerment and environmental conservation, and said data-driven planning would be crucial in ensuring effective CSR outcomes.
Advisor to the Chief Minister and Chairman of the Mizoram CSR Cell, T.B.C. Lalvenchhunga, outlined potential CSR opportunities across sectors in the state.
The event also saw the signing of Memoranda of Understanding between the Mizoram Start-Up Mission and several corporate and institutional partners.
Secretary of the Planning and Programme Implementation Department, Lalmalsawma Pachuau, delivered the welcome address at the programme.
