Imphal: Security forces on Saturday recovered a substantial cache of arms and ammunition from Manipur’s Imphal East district, police said.
The seizure was made during an operation in the foothills of the Chanung Range on Friday.
Recovered items included a .303 rifle with a magazine, an SLR without a magazine, eight single-barrel breech-loading rifles, a revolver and a .22 pistol with a magazine.
Police said the cache also comprised 24 rounds of assorted ammunition, five walkie-talkie sets with batteries and several camouflage outfits.

In a separate operation, security personnel arrested a militant from Moreh in Tengnoupal district.
The arrested individual, identified as Waikhom Athoi (28), was stated to be associated with the banned National Revolutionary Front of Manipur.
