Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah are scheduled to visit the state later this month.
According to Sarma, Prime Minister Modi will visit Assam on February 14, during which he is slated to inaugurate a bridge over the Brahmaputra connecting two parts of Guwahati, along with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) campus in the city. The Chief Minister shared the information during a Facebook Live interaction from Davos.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Dibrugarh on January 30, where he will lay the foundation stone for Assam’s second legislative assembly complex and address a public rally, Sarma added.
The chief minister said the visit highlights the Centre’s emphasis on bolstering administrative infrastructure in Upper Assam.
He noted that the Prime Minister’s visit in February will be his third to Assam in the past three months, underscoring continued central focus on the state. Sarma added that Modi is also likely to lay the foundation stone of a railway coach manufacturing factory at Kokrajhar and inaugurate several development projects during the visit.
