Shillong: Meghalaya has secured three major honours at the 6th Digital Transformation Summit and Awards held in New Delhi, with its initiatives in geospatial technology, public service delivery and digital health earning national recognition, officials said on Monday.

The awards reflect the State’s growing emphasis on technology-driven governance under the leadership of Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, a senior official said, adding that they reaffirm Meghalaya’s commitment to inclusive, data-led and citizen-centric administration.

Officials said the recognition spans critical sectors such as urban development, infrastructure planning, public service delivery and healthcare, highlighting how digital innovation is being harnessed to improve governance outcomes and enhance citizens’ quality of life.

The Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department’s flagship initiative Meghalaya ONE was awarded in the category of “Innovative Use of Digital Technology in Enhancing Public Service Delivery”.

Meghalaya ONE is a unified digital platform that enables citizens to access government schemes, services and grievance redressal facilities through a single interface.

The platform is available through web portals, physical service centres and a network of village data volunteers, ensuring last-mile connectivity in remote areas.

In the geospatial segment, the Meghalaya State GIS and UAV Centre, operating under the Meghalaya Basin Development Authority and the Planning, Investment Promotion and Sustainable Development Department, received the award for “Excellence in Use of Geospatial Technologies for Transportation, Urban Development, and Other Projects”.

The recognition was conferred for its Meghalaya State Geo Portal, also known as the Meghalaya State GeoHub, which uses AI-based analytics to provide real-time and historical data for evidence-based decision-making in areas such as deforestation monitoring, weather forecasting, water budgeting and infrastructure planning.

The Health Department’s National Health Mission, Government of Meghalaya, was also honoured with the Award of Excellence for “Innovative Digital Health Services and Public Health Data Analytics”.

The award recognised the MOTHER app, a digital platform that uses real-time data to track maternal and child health indicators.

Officials said that between 2020 and 2025, the State recorded nearly a 60 per cent reduction in maternal deaths and a 34 per cent decline in the Infant Mortality Rate, demonstrating the impact of data-driven health interventions.

The awards were presented at a ceremony organised by Governance Now, a publication focused on public policy, governance and administrative reforms.

Officials said the recognition would further encourage the State to deepen digital reforms and strengthen transparent and accountable governance systems.
