Punjabi singer and music composer B Praak has reportedly received a death threat and an extortion demand of Rs 10 crore from an alleged member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, prompting police to step up security and launch an investigation.
According to police, the threat was conveyed through an audio message sent to another Punjabi singer, Dilnoor, who is associated with B Praak.
The caller identified himself as Arju Bishnoi and asked Dilnoor to relay the message, giving the singer one week to comply with the demand.
In the audio clip, the caller allegedly threatened to kill B Praak if the money was not paid, warning of “serious consequences” and using explicit language to convey the threat.
He also claimed that even moving abroad would not ensure safety, and warned of harm to anyone found close to the singer.
Police said the case was registered based on a complaint filed by Dilnoor, following which efforts are underway to trace the origin of the calls and verify the identity of the caller.
Officials said the matter is being treated seriously and all angles are being examined.
According to the complaint, Dilnoor first received two missed calls from an international number on January 5, which he ignored.

The following day, he received another call from a different foreign number.
Finding the conversation suspicious, he disconnected the call, after which the threatening audio message was sent.
Security arrangements have been reviewed in light of the threat, police said, adding that further details would emerge as the investigation progresses.
B Praak, whose real name is Pratik Bachan, is a prominent figure in the Punjabi and Hindi music industries.
He has delivered several chart-topping songs, including Mann Bharryaa, Ranjha from Shershaah, and Saari Duniya Jalaa Denge from Animal.
