Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to building a vibrant startup ecosystem and assured continued support for young entrepreneurs to encourage innovation.

Highlighting various initiatives undertaken by the government,  CM Sarma said several schemes are already in place to promote and nurture startups in the state.

“On National Startup Day, we celebrate the spirit of innovation and enterprise that is shaping India’s future. In Assam, we remain committed to nurturing a vibrant startup ecosystem, enabling young entrepreneurs with the right support, opportunities, and an environment to innovate and create impact,” the Chief Minister said in a post on X.

He further informed that since 2021, as many as 615 entrepreneurs have been incubated under the Assam Startup scheme.

Sarma also pointed out that the Assam Venture Capital Fund, with a corpus of Rs 200 crore, has been established to provide financial support to emerging startups. In addition, assistance is being extended to young entrepreneurs through the ‘Chief Minister Atmanirbhar Assam Abhijan’, he added.

National Startup Day, observed every year on January 16, aims to recognise and promote the contribution of startups in driving economic growth, employment generation, and technological advancement in the country. The day serves as a platform to highlight the role of innovation and entrepreneurship in building a self-reliant India.

Across the country, various events, workshops, and discussions are organised to encourage aspiring entrepreneurs and provide them with guidance, mentorship, and networking opportunities. In Assam too, the day is seen as an occasion to inspire the youth to explore new ideas and contribute to the state’s economic development through entrepreneurship.
