Shillong: The Garo Hills Zone of the Federation of Khasi, Jaintia and Garo People’s (FKJGP) has denounced the killing of Dilseng M. Sangma, an active member of the ACHIK NGO, in Goalgaon area of West Garo Hills district.
Reacting to the incident, FKJGP president Pritam Arengh urged the authorities to act swiftly against those responsible and pressed for immediate relief for the victim’s family.
He said the organisation views the incident with grave concern and expects the perpetrators to be identified and brought to justice without delay, along with the provision of ex-gratia assistance to the bereaved family.
The organisation also stressed the need for a thorough, impartial and transparent probe into the murder, cautioning that any shortcomings in the investigation would be seen as a lack of seriousness towards the Garo community.

In addition, the FKJGP demanded that the stone quarry allegedly linked to the incident be sealed and taken over by the authorities.
It appealed to residents of the plain belt areas to extend full cooperation to the police in tracing and apprehending the accused.
Expressing sympathy with the family of the deceased, the organisation conveyed its condolences and prayed for peace and strength for the bereaved family during the time of loss.
