The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a supplementary chargesheet against two additional accused in connection with the 2024 case involving a conspiracy to carry out improvised explosive device (IED) blasts in Assam, officials said on Saturday.
The supplementary chargesheet was submitted on Friday before the NIA special court in Guwahati, naming Bhargab Gogoi and Sumu Gogoi as accused.
With this development, the total number of persons chargesheeted in the case has risen to five.
The agency had earlier filed a chargesheet against three other accused in June last year.
Both Bhargab Gogoi and Sumu Gogoi, residents of Assam’s Dibrugarh district, were arrested by the NIA in June 2025 after the agency took over the investigation from the Dispur police in September 2024.

According to the NIA, its investigation revealed that the two accused had provided funds to co-accused Jahnu Boruah, who had admitted to planting four of the 11 IEDs seized by police in August 2024.
The explosive devices were allegedly planted in furtherance of a protest and boycott call issued on Independence Day by United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent) [ULFA(I)] chief Paresh Baruah.
The case was initially registered by the Assam Police at Dispur police station and pertains to an alleged conspiracy by the banned outfit ULFA(I) to wage war against the Government of India by attempting to trigger multiple IED blasts across the state.
