Guwahati: Purabi Dairy, the consumer brand of West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited (WAMUL), on Thursday opened a new milk and milk products booth at ShradhanjaliKanan in Guwahati as part of its partnership with the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to expand access to hygienic and affordable dairy products across the city.
The booth was formally inaugurated by SB Bose, Managing Director of North East Dairy and Foods Limited (NEDFL), in the presence of SM Hussain, General Manager, NEDFL; Kuldeep Borah, General Manager, WAMUL and officials from NEDFL and WAMUL.
Speaking on the occasion, Bose said that the growth of the dairy sector in Assam is closely linked to expanding organised retail and improving product penetration. More such booths are planned at key public locations in the city under the WAMUL–GMDA collaboration to strengthen last-mile access to dairy products while supporting sustainable livelihoods for farmer members of the cooperative. The prefabricated booth infrastructure has been procured by WAMUL under the World Bank–funded APART project supporting organised dairy development in Assam.
Kuldeep Borah said, “Milk production, procurement and consumption are all growing in Assam. Now, if we increase our product penetration, the market will grow, the farmers will grow, and ultimately this business belongs to Assam and its farmers.”
Purabi Dairy products are manufactured by West Assam Milk Producers’ Cooperative Union Limited (WAMUL) and marketed by North East Dairy and Foods Limited (NEDFL).
The new booth at ShradhanjaliKanan will offer the full range of Purabi milk and value-added dairy products, ensuring convenient access for visitors and residents in the surrounding areas.

Purabi Dairy has been steadily expanding its retail footprint across Guwahati and other parts of the state as part of its strategy to strengthen farmer incomes and meet the growing demand for quality dairy products.
