Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Lt Gen (Retd) K.T. Parnaik has emphasised the strong potential of the state’s youth and the need to create more avenues for their recruitment into the armed forces.
Parnaik made the remarks during a meeting with Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan in New Delhi on Wednesday, where the two discussed key national security matters with a special focus on Arunachal Pradesh, according to an official statement.
The governor, who is on an official visit to the national capital, emphasised the importance of coordinated border development in the strategically sensitive state.
The discussions covered several initiatives, including the Vibrant Border Village Programme, the Agnipath scheme, and the implementation of Sadbhavana projects in border areas.
Stressing the role of youth engagement, Parnaik said that greater induction of young people from Arunachal Pradesh into the armed forces would not only enhance national security but also empower the next generation through discipline, skill development and a sense of service to the nation.
He also appreciated the close coordination between the state government and the armed forces in fast-tracking development in frontier villages along the international border, ensuring that security imperatives go hand in hand with development.
Drawing on his extensive experience in border management and counter-insurgency operations, the governor underlined the importance of theatre commands and the continued strengthening of the operational and combat capabilities of the Indian armed forces.
